| Why Refinish My Rifle Or Shotgun? There are many different reasons why you should refinish your stock(s). This is something only you can decide. And your decision may be different depending on which piece you are considering and other personal circumstances. Firstly, we are discussing a piece of our history. Our parents' history. Our grandparents' history. Our country's history. Too often today history is pushed aside for the modern, the sleek, the plastic fabrics of our life. I try at every opportunity to encourage people to be proud of their history, remember it, study it, discuss it and display it wherever and whenever possible. This is particularly true of our military weapons. Unfortunately in our time in history weapons, guns, rifles, etc. are being touted as undesirable and something to dispose of or hide in shame. I disagree! Our country was founded on the principle and our forefathers gave their lives on the battlefields of history in order that we might be able to possess arms and display them proudly. As well as of course freedom of speech and the right to worship God as we choose. So, if you have an old military weapon that has seen better days and you would like to display that piece of our history to the world in support of all of the men who died so that you might have this right, maybe you would prefer to have it cleaned off, smoothed out and spruced up a bit so that people will more likely notice her. Thus giving you the opportunity to discuss its history and maybe spread some of this knowlege on to the less informed. Continue > |

| The Process: A. Remove Old Finish I employ the use of several different strippers. The finish on most European-made stocks is much harder than on the U.S. makes. Therefore, it is much harder to remove. And much harder to accept stain also. My father and I over time have developed what we consider to be the best and easiest way to handle these stubborn finishes. Continue> |
